About The Dyslexia Association
The Dyslexia Association is a registered charity, which was established in 1971.
We aim to help people with dyslexia to improve their skills and achieve their potential.
We also support their families, employers, teachers and others who work with them.
We provide high quality services to people with dyslexia, their families, employers, educators and the wider community. Our services include:
- free information and advice
- dyslexia screening and assessment
- one to one tuition
- training in the use of assistive technology aids
In recent years, we have worked in partnership with:
- local authorities
- job centres
- employers
- training providers
- schools
- colleges and universities
- prisons
Our tutors and assessors are appropriately qualified dyslexia specialists.
Our staff are trained to offer high quality information, advice and guidance. We meet the Matrix Standard for the effective delivery of information, advice and guidance on learning and work.
The Dyslexia Association is currently in the process of becoming a Clear Assured employer. Organisations become Clear Assured to state their commitment to identifying and removing barriers from recruitment policy, process and practice which have the potential to exclude disabled people. http://www.clearkit.co.uk/clear-assured/
We do not receive any government funding towards our general running costs. We have to raise money to pay for the services we offer without charge. We bid for project funding to allow us to offer services free to the user, but we have to charge for some services in order to cover our costs.
The Dyslexia Association is a membership organisation and welcomes new members. If you are interested in supporting the association and becoming a legal member please call for details on 0115 924 6880.
