SpLD specialist, Counsellor or both?

Supporting the emotional and mental health needs of learners with SpLD


Young people with SpLD struggle with mental health issues and our role as specialists can sometimes feel like that of a counsellor.  Social & Emotional Mental Health (SEMH) is finally being promised the recognition that it deserves in our schools and a good understanding of this is vital for all practitioners.


When is it?


Tuesday, 19 June 2018.  Doors open at 6:00pm.  AGM is at 6:30pm


Please allow plenty of time for membership renewal, refreshments and networking before the AGM.

About the presenter


Dr Sarah Couzens is a lecturer in SpLD at Bath Spa University and a Consultant and Lecturer at The Mead Academy Trust and Teaching School.


Sarah is an SpLD specialist and counsellor in her final year of training.  In this lecture she will explore ideas from both a theoretical and practical perspective on how we can best help and support children and young people.
